Project Completion
July 2026
Nestled within the mountain landscape of Kamas, Utah, this 85-foot interactive stream was designed to feel as though it had always been part of the property. Fed by a basin holding approximately 3,800 gallons of water, the stream begins with a series of cascading waterfalls before winding through a deep, canyon-like channel inspired by Utah's natural waterways.
As the water travels downstream, it widens into a generous pooling area before narrowing and accelerating over a broad stone shelf. The final waterfall was intentionally positioned to direct the sound of moving water toward the home's fire pit and gathering space, creating an immersive experience that can be enjoyed from the patio year-round.
To help the stream blend seamlessly into its surroundings, aquatic plants were incorporated throughout the entire stream to support natural filtration while softening the edges of the feature. Surrounding landscape areas were planted with species native to Utah, creating a habitat that is both beautiful and ecologically beneficial.
This project demonstrates how a traditional lawn can be transformed into a dynamic water feature that conserves outdoor water use while providing value to both people and wildlife. The stream offers opportunities for exploration and play, attracts birds and other local wildlife, and creates a landscape that feels connected to the environment that surrounds it.
